Remnants of Yesterday

In Conclusion

I conclude this glimpse from my memoirs about a short period of my life after retirement, affirming that it was a phase in which my interests shifted from bioengineering sciences to pedagogy, focusing on studying the causes of educational decline in Iraq and the Arab world. Through systematic analysis of Arab universities, I always emphasized the urgent need for change.

Iraq—like other Arab countries—has faced significant challenges represented by corruption, brain drain, declining quality of research output, and poor education quality. I felt a great responsibility toward addressing these challenges, conducting a comprehensive analysis of the current state of higher education in Iraq and the Arab world, including examining strengths and weaknesses. Based on this, I presented proposals for innovative reforms aimed at addressing weaknesses in the educational system.

I hope these efforts—however modest—contribute to positive change in the reality of Arab education. I look forward to seeing the next generation witness a scientific and cultural renaissance that restores to Iraq and the Arab world their distinguished civilizational standing, reclaiming our ancient history and building a promising future for generations to come.
